10-Hours began as a dream
of one man to achieve his optimal fitness after years over
overweight lifestyle. Once a 320 pound man, Marc Through several years of challenging competition, Rubin finally achieved one if his primary goals, to complete a full Ironman in less than 10 hours. Now (as of this writing) Marc has his sights set on the ultimate Ironman challenge, Kona. Marc is an inspiration to anyone who meets him. His story is compelling. His message is meaningful. We can all achieve our goals. Overcome limitations. Step outside your comfort zone. Visit: 10-Hours.com
According to Active.com, each year, more than 90 percent of those who start the world's most famous triathlon finish it. But only about 5 percent of those who try to get to the starting line, that is, who compete in an Ironman qualifier or enter the Ironman lottery, actually make it there. It's easier to gain admission to Harvard. ;-)
Marc is also the co-founder of the popular TriScottsdale Foundation, and organization dedicated to raising funds to support aspiring triathletes. His three boys are proud supporters and also compete. Oh, and in their spare time you can find the four of them with painted faces at KISS concerts.
We worked with Marc to develop the taglines 'Escape your comfort zone.' and 'Destroy your limitations.' These are very powerful, meaningful messages and call the viewer into action. With Marc's presentation, these messages create a deep sense of motivation.

The name, of course, refers to the fact that in order to qualify for Ironman Kona you must be able to complete a full Ironman competition in less than 10 hours.... that is just to qualify. The logo is a trick on the eye. Some see it right away, others it takes a second. If you don't see it, just look at it for a moment. You will see that the hole in the zero also represents the left vertical line of the "H". This design was created with a national product brand in mind, albeit, Marc has yet to establish the line.
The 10-Hours website offers a great deal of features including Marc's blog, fitness calculators, sponsor tools, discussion boards, Marc's workout and race schedules, photo and video galleries, Pod Cast, a medical column, and a unique feature shown below that dynamically tracks Marc's progress toward qualifying for Kona. The event shown below was his moment of glory in achieving his goal to qualify for Kona.
Realm developed an entire identity package for 10-Hours with the intent of further development of the name into a product brand. Below is the final business card design.
