Moss Wellness Spa is a 10,000 square foot eco-luxury spa located in the posh Scottsdale Waterfront District. The facility was designed to express our ability to have the luxury we all desire without causing harm to the environment. There is a peace and serinity that one feels the moment a visitor enters the doors.
Realm's design work is experienced the moment you walk to the door... with the identity featured on the glass and the bronze door handles sculpted from our original leaf illustrations. The look and feel was strategic in that it expressed extreme organic simplicity yet a sheek and elegant style.
The primary challenge with this project was to design everything we created under the strict guidelines of LEED Certification and the the Forest Stuardship Council to create print pieces that where 100% recycled utilizing soy inks and materials that were of low impact on the environment. All materials utilized were calculated for their carbon footprint on the environment prior to purchase and implementation. The Mohawk Options paper utilized not only met our 100% recycled paper requirements but even more enlightening was the fact that the stock was manufactured in a facility powered by wind.
There are approximately 12,000 species of moss classified in the Bryophyta. The division Bryophyta formerly included not only mosses, but also liverworts and hornworts. These other two groups of bryophytes now are often placed in their own divisions. The life of a moss starts from a haploid spore, which germinates to produce a protonema, which is either a mass of filaments or thalloid (flat and thallus-like). This is a transitory stage in the life of a moss. From the protonema grows the gametophore ("gamete-bearer") that is differentiated into stems and leaves. From the tips of stems or branches develop the sex organs of the mosses. The female organs are known as archegonia (sing. archegonium) and are protected by a group of modified leaves known as the perichaetum (plural, perichaeta). The archegonia have necks called venters which the male sperm swim down. The male organs are known as antheridia (singular antheridium) and are enclosed by modified leaves called the perigonium (plural, perigonia). ;-)
The Tagline 'Centered on You and Your Environment' reflects the nature of the company philosophy, an organization that is focused on both you, and the environment in which they serve you... and the environment outside their facility.
We assisted in the design of a vehicle wrap, wrapping a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. |
The moss dynamic web system provided for two mirrored live websites, one completely Flash driven, and the other completely PHP driven. Both dynamic sites pull content realtime from a custom built database driven secure website manager completely operable by the client and their staff.
Realm designed a 16 page, 100% recycled, soy-based ink printed piece. The brochure utilized Mohawk Options paper manufactured in a facility powered by the wind. The piece featured images photographed by one of the firm founders. The first and last page is a synthetic onion skin material. To feature an onion skin look we researched and found the ONLY synthetic onion skin available anywhere that is certified by the Forest Service Council for its limited adverse effects on the environment.
In addition we designed a complete Identity kit featuring a pocket folder, mailable postcards, letterhead, envelope, business cards, invitations, and so forth.
Realm developed a line of moss private labeled products called 'moss Organics'. The line is offered both in the spa Apothecary and is used within all facility services.
