Realm worked with Token Rock, Inc. to develop an inspirational social network. The network offers users the ability to journal moments of their lives, marke certain moments as "Keystone" moments, associate a memento with the experience, and even associate other individuals with the moment through a process called "Sending Gift Rocks". Members can make friends with others on the system and then share their stories with friends, the entire network, or keep them private if they wish not to share them at all. Sharing stories allows others to be inspired by the story the member shares. Visit TruJournal.com
Developing a social network is no small feat. There are an almost unlimited number of variables that need to be managed. However, any feature that Token Rock wished to be created, (and continues to be) is certainly implemented.
Nielsen Online shows that: Social networks and blogs are now the 4th most popular online activity ahead of personal email, Member communities are visited by 67% of the global online population, time spent is growing at 3 times the overall internet rate, accounting for almost 10% of all internet time, PDF, Nielsen Online, March. The firm also reports Social Networks are 68% more popular than email 65% (but not by much), Nielsen, Cnet, March 2009 ;-)
Realm worked with Token Rock to develop the tagline "Inspire and Be Inspired" which expresses the philosophy that members can utilize TruJournal to inspire one another along their paths of life.
Whether browsing stories on one's personal journal or within friends, or even networkwide public entries, users browse using the Journal browser. Here they may seek stories that are relevant to their life situation and read them if they are public to reflect upon and help them through a personal life experience. If the story is marked as friends only and the member browsing the networkwide stories wishes to read the friends only entry, they can request friendship with the individual who posted the entry. If it is marked as Private, the entry will not appear in the list at all. In this way stories are organized to allow users privacy or public sharing and those that are publicly shared can inspire others on their path of life.
Within the TruJournal social network application members can share stories utilizing our compose page which offers tools to upload photos to a journal entry photo gallery, pinpoint a location where the experience took place if they prefer, associate a memento either by uploading a photo of it or if one doesn't exist, browse through the virtual "Token Rock" gallery, and then mark the entry as public, private, or friends only. |
The TruJournal logo represents Token Rock (tr) and You (u). Journal represents both the fact that individuals can journal moments of their lives, and also that the network as a whole represents a comprehensive collection of stories from around the world.
The TruJournal home page displays some of the most recent stories posted to the public archive as well as dynamically driven content from TokenRock.com including the latest home page article and a list of blog articles. the colors are a modern blend of blues and grays with page edging that is remeniciet of the TokenRock.com brand. The object is to allow TruJournal to establish its own brand yet assure that the two brands, Token Rock and TruJournal are strongly associated with oneanother.
The default member home page features a variety of tools and dynamic widgets including such tools as the animated Keystone Timeline that allows the user to scroll through key moments of life that they have flagged throughout their journals, a brief list of the most recent journal entries, a link to the user's blog (if the user has opted to have a blog), a location map of their primary location, a brief list of their events that they may be participating in, and a friends widget that displays recent stories posted by friends, and more! Realm also developed a template system that allows the user to modify their home page layout to highlight other widget tools.
Finding friends on TruJournal is quick and easy. Make friends with other members and view stories shared by those individuals that are marked as "friends only" entries. Comment on their writing or recognize the entry by marking it as one you like! The member can control any comment made on their posts.
